Common gearbox problems what to look out for.

Noisy Gearbox

The most common causes for gearboxes becoming noisy is due to bearings or lack of oil in your gearbox.
Gearbox bearings after time will eventually start to wear. Causing a high pitched sound accelerating and decelerating when driving.
Another way to check if you have a noisy gearbox is when stationary with the vehicle started in neutral you should hear a noise if u press the clutch all the way down the noise will disappear then still in neutral release the clutch and the noise will come back again. Unfortunately this means you have a noisy gearbox. But if the noise gets louder when you press the clutch down and you feel a vibration through the clutch pedal this means you have a issue with clutch or dual-mass flywheel.
If you have a noisy gearbox it is best to get it fixed as soon as possible. It could cause more damage to the gearbox witch will cost more to recondition / repair, could all so cause damage to the clutch and drive shafts.
